Preserve RI is excited to welcome five new members to our Board of Trustees. We will be profiling our newest Trustees throughout the first few months of 2026. To read about last month’s profiles, click here.
Stephen Lane, Wickford

Stephen brings both board governance experience and a hands-on preservation perspective to Rhode Island’s nonprofit and cultural community. He is the steward of the former home of noted preservation architect Norman Isham, where he has actively preserved and thoughtfully modernized the historic property for contemporary use. In New York City, he serves as Treasurer of an Emory Roth–designed 1927 cooperative apartment building, helping guide major capital decisions for this historic residential structure.
He is deeply engaged in Rhode Island’s philanthropic community through board service with Ballet RI and the Development Committee for Ocean State Media (RI PBS), and he has held Treasurer and other governance roles with nonprofit organizations in New York, Providence, and Newport.
Professionally, Stephen worked in real estate valuation and consulting at Price Waterhouse and in commercial real estate finance with a Nomura Securities subsidiary. He later served as President and CEO of his family’s real estate development firm before establishing West Bay Capital Partners LLC, a family investment partnership.
He holds a BA from Connecticut College, where his studies included architectural history and an internship with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
“Rhode Island’s extraordinary colonial and architectural heritage is one of the defining qualities that makes the state such a special place to live. I believe strongly in stewardship as a guiding principle, and I’m honored to join the Board of Trustees of Preserve Rhode Island — an organization that for more than 70 years has been a leading advocate, fundraiser, and trusted advisor in protecting the historic buildings and places that shape our communities.”
Kelly Taylor, Providence

Kelly Taylor brings twenty-five years of experience at the intersection of architecture and interior design to her eponymous firm, Kelly Taylor Interior Design. After honing her craft in New York City and Providence architecture firms, she launched KTID in 2004 to do what she does best: guide clients through the complexity of design with clarity, rigor and just enough wit to make the process enjoyable.
Her work and leadership have been widely recognized—named one of New England Home’s “5 Under 40” talents and a Providence Business News “Woman to Watch in Creative Services.” Beyond her practice, Kelly co-founded DesignxRI, a nonprofit dedicated to growing Rhode Island’s design economy, and is a committed advocate for sustainability and community impact.
Kelly holds degrees in Interior Design (Parsons), English (College of Charleston), and a Master of Sustainable Design (Boston Architectural College). She is NCIDQ-certified, a LEED Green Associate, and is an active member of IIDA, ASID & IFDA.
“Much of my work is centered on helping historic homes evolve for modern living while honoring the architectural details that make them unique. I’m excited to support an organization that values design as a long-term investment in people, place, and impact—and believes preservation and progress can coexist. Serving on this board feels like a natural extension of our work at KTID and a meaningful way to contribute to the future of Rhode Island’s built environment.”
