As reported last fall, Preserve RI secured a 10-year lease extension for our Curator Agreement with the Town of Lincoln for the historic 1890 Chase Farmhouse. Our rehabilitation program began in 2014 when we stepped in to find a new use for this vacant, badly deteriorated local landmark.

Using our Revolving Fund and a loan from the RI Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission, Preserve RI embarked on a full exterior and interior rehab, with Town support for electrical and HVAC upgrades and a new roof. Today, Preserve RI manages two apartment rental units as part of the Agreement, collecting rent to pay back our investments in the building.

As part of our lease extension agreement with Lincoln, Preserve RI identified several new

phases of work needed for the building. This includes masonry repairs to the foundation, structural support in the basement, and window restoration. A future phase will involve the recreation of a new, historically accurate porch entrance on the south side of the building. The masonry and structural work were completed last fall, with window restoration currently underway.

Preserve RI is proud to be stewards of this historic and important community resource!
