Friends & Enemies: A Historical Walking Tour of North Burial Ground
Saturday, October 4th
11:30 AM
$10 each, $5 for SNAP/EBT Cardholders

Step into Providence’s oldest municipal cemetery and uncover the stories of friends, rivals, contemporaries, and the residents of Providence that intersected with the Lippitt family. This guided walking tour explores political figures, community leaders, craftspeople, and everyday residents who shaped the city between the Dorr Rebellion and the passage of the 19th Amendment. Along the way, visit the gravemarkers of prohibitionists who would have opposed Governor Henry Lippitt, suffragists like Annie Smith Peck who would have challenged May Lippitt’s views, and more.
This 75-minute walking tour will be led by Providence Cemetery Director Annalisa Heppner and Lippitt House Museum Director Cathy Saunders.
