Lippitt House Museum is a choice location for photographers and cinematographers alike, whose work benefits from the backdrop of a high style Victorian mansion. Past uses include a public television dramatic production, independent films, print media, and commercial photography (fashion and product).

Located on Providence’s historic East Side, Lippitt House is conveniently located near hotels, B&Bs, transportation and is within walking distance of many city attractions, as well as Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design.

To keep guests, vendors, and museum staff healthy, we follow Rhode Island, Providence, and CDC guidelines regarding masks, cleaning, sanitation, social distancing, and venue capacity.

Review Process

We consider all commercial and editorial proposals in the same manner. Proposals are reviewed on the basis of curatorial matters, communications concerns, and legal issues. Approval of a project is dependent on many factors, including the appropriateness of the project’s association with Lippitt House and Preserve Rhode Island, scheduling and space restrictions, conservation concerns, and availability of staff and resources.

Fees are determined by a number of factors, including the duration of the shoot, the nature of the project, scope of distribution, the type of media, and the proposed prominence of the Lippitt House Museum. See Fee Determination.

We have a standard written agreement that must be executed prior to commencement of a shoot. The agreement includes shooting specific issues and credit line requirements.

Insurance is required. All shoots require a minimum general commercial liability insurance policy (including coverage for bodily injury, property damage, and personal and advertising injury) in the amount of $2,000,000, naming the Lippitt House Museum and Preserve Rhode Island (owner of Lippitt House) additional insured.

City Permits

Exterior shoots that impact the city streets or sidewalks may require a city permit from the appropriate jurisdiction.
