Preserve Rhode Island joins with partner Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission to honor the people who make a difference by protecting Rhode Island’s historic places. Mingle with friends and colleagues from around the state at this annual gathering which brings Rhode Island’s community leaders, business people, and homeowners, together with preservationists, industry professionals and craftspeople. Enjoy a reception and awards ceremony honoring this year’s recipients of the Rhody Awards for Historic Preservation.
Built during the "Golden Years" of Senator Nelson W. Aldrich, Aldrich Mansion’s construction began in 1896 and was overseen by the New York firm of Carrere & Hastings. Nearly two hundred craftsmen, many of whom were dispatched from Europe, were commissioned to create this dynamic structure. Some sixteen years later, the seventy-room Mansion, once known as Indian Oaks, was completed.
