About the Celebration

Preserve Rhode Island joins with partner Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission to honor the people who make a difference by protecting Rhode Island’s historic places. Friends and colleagues from around the state mingle at this annual gathering which brings Rhode Island’s community leaders, business people, and homeowners, together with preservationists, industry professionals and craftspeople.

The Dunes Club

Join us at The Dunes Club in Narragansett, a private beach club designed by noted Philadelphia architect Thomas Pym Cope and constructed in 1939, replacing an earlier complex that was largely destroyed by the Hurricane of 1938.

Weathered wood finishes, nautical motifs, and stripped-down, Colonial Revival styling – with Art Moderne flourishes – create a simple but elegant atmosphere in the clubhouse. Extensive decks and large expanses of glass make the most of the club’s outstanding seaside setting.
