Volunteers Improve Dexter House Landscape
Preserve Rhode Island was fortunate to have a large crew of volunteers return for the 2nd year in a row from Simulia, a division of Dassault
Systemes, Inc. that is based in Providence. These volunteers helped to plant the flower boxes at Lippitt House in 2009, but this year a larger group was available and willing to tackle a plethora of projects at the Jeremiah Dexter House on North Main Street, Preserve Rhode Island's headquarters.
Over a four-hour stretch the crew worked to dig a new flower bed and plant numerous perennials, weed and rake the yard, prune various trees, lilacs and bushes, and most helpfully, to remove excessive overgrowth and decaying leaves from a forgotten garden in an adjacent parking lot.
Preserve Rhode Island is incredibly thankful for the hard work of the volunteers from Simulia and looks forward to putting them to work again in 2011!
