2009 Annual Appeal
Past Contributions to Preserve Rhode Island enabled us to:
Raise public awareness about threats on places integral to Rhode Island's history, culture and unique sense of place. The RI Preservation Watch identifies trouble spots and provides concerned citizens with effective strategies for action.
Empower non-profit organizations by maximizing their capabilities. The Business Planning Initiative for partners of the Historic Sites Coalition provides management guidance, "best practices" recommendations and individualized planning to develop the sustainability of Rhode Island's historic sites.
Celebrate individuals and organizations for praise-worthy contributions to the preservation of Rhode Island's historic resources. The Rhody Awards, presented by PRI and the RI Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission at the annual Preservation Celebration, are given to those who achieve and inspire excellence.
Teach property owners how to care for historic homes at hands-on Homeowner Workshops in collaboration with Historic New England, the Newport Restoration Foundation and the Providence Revolving Fund
Organize a network of preservationists from around the state. Led by PRI, the Preservation Roundtable meets regularly as the statewide preservation policy coalition.
Focus on stewardship at the Preserve Rhode Island properties with projects such as: the major rehabilitation of the Philip Walker House, commissioning a Historic Structures Report for the Governor Henry Lippitt House Museum and replacement of the roof at PRI's headquarters, the Jeremiah Dexter House.
