2008 Stabilization
Work is ongoing at the Walker House to rehabilitate the structure for its return to use as a residence for PRI's Property Manager. The north wall of the house is currently being lifted to allow for replacement of a section of the sill, reconstruction of a failing section of foundation wall, and to correct problems with the second floor framing that resulted from the house settling over the years.
The project is also addressing the failure of the chimney mass, which was poorly reconstructed sometime in the 19th century and has started to crack and shear in various places. Once the major structural components are taken care of, the project will progress with the installation of a new heating system and new plumbing and electrical systems, followed by a new kitchen and bathroom.
In the meantime, PRI's Property Manager is working to improve the 2-acre landscape by getting rid of weeds, dead branches and plantings, as well as addressing damage to the fencing from various car
accidents.
